Codispensing is generally low, except for a few pharmacies in Canada. The aim of this program is to address this issue by educating pharmacists on the importance of codispensing naloxone with prescription opioids, highlighting the destigmatization and harm reduction barriers that exist.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of this continuing education activity, the pharmacist will be better able to:

  1. Educate on the importance of naloxone to reduce opioid-related harm
  2. Translate the Canadian pharmacist naloxone prescribing guidelines into clinical practice
  3. Support destigmatization of naloxone therapy in educating patients and caregivers
  4. Direct a pharmacy practice to optimize how a patient receiving opioid therapy is codispensed naloxone
